MaAfrika Tikkun Australia Celebrates Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday at Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney

His Royal Highness Chief Mandlesizwe Zwelivelile Mandela, grandson of the great Nelson Mandela, was in Sydney on Saturday 26th July to attend the Mandela 90th Celebratory dinner held at the Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney.

As a representative of Mandela’s chosen charity ‘MaAfrika Tikkun’, Chief Mandela, was honorary keynote speaker at this special evening. “I am very happy to have regained the family’s Mvezo chieftancy and I am proud to be following in my grandfathers footsteps, especially with the continued support of people worldwide,” said Mandla.

“MaAfrika Tikkun’s mission is to empower disadvantaged communities in South Africa and help transform their lives,” continued Chief Mandela. “We achieve this through focus on orphaned and vulnerable children and the elderly living in poverty-stricken townships.”

Nelson Mandela is the Patron in Chief of MaAfrika Tikkun which means ‘Transformation of Mother Africa’ and was established in 1994. “The Tikkun projects demonstrate in a practical and sustainable manner what can be done by limited resources, great commitment and passion”, said Nelson Mandela.

The MC for this spectacular evening was Geraldine Doogue and entertainment included Aria Hall of Fame Inductee Richard Clapton, plus Christine Anu, Deni Hines and Justine Bradley with other acclaimed indigenous and world musicians. Prominent Australian identities were also be in attendance, including South African High Commissioner His Excellency Mr. Anthony Mongalo.

An official portrait of Nelson Mandela painted by MaAfrika Tikkun Australian Ambassador and Hunter Valley based artist Greg Wilson, was auctioned on the night for $10,000. Other live auction items included significant international artworks, never released David Moore photographs of Nelson Mandela, a seven day cruise on “The World”, a five star South African safari holiday courtesy of South Australian Tourism and Qantas plus a dinner with His Royal Highness Chief Mandlesizwe Zwelivelile Mandela at The Quay restaurant.

Amora Hotel Riverwalk Melbourne is pledging support to the Bonnie Babes Foundation, hosting their annual black tie event on National Babies Day, Friday October 26, 2007.

Jo Hall & Tony Jones will all be in attendance to support the Foundation who raise funds for Perinatal Medicine for medical research projects and to counsel families who are grieving after the loss of a baby. Amora Announces introduction of the Amora Hotel Brand into the Australian Market

Dr. Tanapun Siripathrawan Chief Executive and Owner of the Amora Group with hotel assets located in Thailand, New Zealand and Australia, announced today that he is terminating the management agreement with ADF Rydges Pty Ltd at the Rydges Jamison Sydney and the Rydges
Riverwalk Melbourne.

Dr.Tanapun said that there has been a long association between Rydges and the Amora Group but now the time was right to establish the Amora brand in Australia. His Jamison Street Sydney hotel and the Bridge Road Riverwalk hotel will be re-branded in October to Amora Hotels. Click here for more
